gag reflex

Over the past 6-8 months, I have a tendency to gag reflex at any given time for no apparent reason. The causes are varied from nose drip (due to cold weather), after eating a meal (no matter what it is) and it seems if I drink water often, it "lessens" the reflex, but in essence, I have no idea why this is happening and doesn't seem to be getting any better.

I thought about seeing a TMJ specialist, but I have no health insurance and may have to get into sooner or later....I'm thinking sooner than later!

Suggestions and help is greatly appreciated!
