gallbladder + liver hemangioma

by louise7901, Feb 28, 2008 08:34PM
Dont you think that the liver hemangioma has something to do with the gallbladder pollyp? I want to know it because I saw the case of this 31 years old woman that had both of them. I also have them and I am really concerned about that. What do you think?

This discussion is related to gallbladder polyp hemangioma of liver.

In my opinion, one has nothing to do with the other. A lot of people have hemangiomas without having gallbladder polyps, and other have polyps without having hemangiomas.

I do have a liver hemangioma located on the left lobe of the liver. At the beggining wasn't painfull, but after 10 years it is about 5 cmm and i  developed back pain on the left side(kind of pinch nerve) plus, my gallbladder is enlarging and quiting. I had some tests done at MD Anderson(Houston-TX) and my doctor said need to be removed.I am sure that the size of the tumor affect a lot of other problems inside your body, but depends were exactly is located.I am not afraid of the surgery, i am afraid of what can happen during the recover time.I have learned that CORTIZONE can make the hemangioma grow in size, so, let your doctor knows and ask to prescribe something that doesn't go thrue the liver.

I can only talk about my own experience...i am 49 y.o. and i was diagnosticated in 1997 when i was in New Jersey. I was very health until 02/2007 when i developed digestive problems and pain, a lot because of constipation. My doctors didn't help, they didn't know much about hemangioma, so i needed to learn about my own pain. I learned that if you don't eat a lot, have less pain, and i start my own diet(i cut bred, fat food, junk food) and i add a lot of yougurt, vegetables and drink a lot of water. I only drink an hour after meals, or i have an yougurt during meals. I don't eat red meat every day, maybe 3 times a week, other days i rest my stomach with vegetables or chicken(not fried). Never eat after 7 p.m. because takes time to digest the red meet, so if you fell sleep, your stomach is going to feel havy and is going to hurt. Hemangioma is a birth mark, just like those that we see in childreen on their nose, leg, or face, it is purple color or red, and full with little vains. It can grow or not, but one thing i learned, CORTIZONE can speed and make grow faster, so, you need to tell your primary doctor. A lot of times you get the flu and it is the first thing your doctor is going to prescribe. Ask for something that doesn't go thru the liver, even if you need to treat yourself with herbal medicine. Don't believe that blood tests only are enought to see if your hemangioma is growing. Blood tests are to diagnostic liver deceases, but to see the size, you'll need a CT SCAN with contrast. The one that you need to drink barium and have an IV, with little dose of radiation. Hemangiomas are only diagnostic thru a biopsy, but it is not recomended a second one, because can cause damage to the liver. A very large hemangioma growing can cause obstruction of other orgaos and vains and can rupture your liver, It is very important to understand that the right doctor to see you is a liver surgeon, "gastro" doctors can
also help with your stomach treatment, but if you already know the size of the hemangioma, ask your gastro doctor if he is also a liver surgeon. Took me years to undestant that, and i only got the help that i realy need, after been referred to MD Anderson(Houston-TX), even though and thank GOD hemangiomas are not cancer, my doctor over there knows everything about tumors.Remember, just because it is benign, doesn't mean it is not growing inside you. The only way to know it is following with your specialist doctor. Also remember, if it is getting big, may cause some severe pain and complication, get the help in time.I hope help to clarify things, not only for you but everyone that doesn't know or understand about hemangioma.
