for the last 10 years i have had upper right abdoman pain, usually it would last a couple of weeks and go away, i would have an attack about every 2 years, but now for the last 6 months i wal around like i have a knife stuck in my gut right thriugh my back. i have started losing weight 12 bs in last 3 weeks, i had a gallbladder function test done and they had to inject the meds. twice before it started contracting they said it was at about 52 percent, i know that it is not real low but with how i have felt for the last few months will they take it out at that rate.
Have you had a follow-up or consult with a surgeon? They would be able to best tell you if it would still be worth it to remove it. My surgeon said before my results came back that if mine was around that number he might still take mine out but that with surgery he felt better removing it with more proof it was real bad. Mine ended up lower in the end at 17% but I also had polyps found on ultrasound. In the later end after they did the pathology I just found out I did in fact have stones in there that were never found on the tests they did. A lot of times they will listen to your symptoms though. There could be other tests a surgeon could send you for to check things in that area and with your gallbladder as well because other tests can show other problems. 52% is still not super high but usually 33% is surgery recommendations. It all depends on the surgeon, your symptoms, and really you. My doctor didn't go by only what the tests showed. Now my gallbladder is gone and I am doing pretty good so far and we found out in the end it was worse than we thought it was so it really did need to go.
So if you haven't, I would definitely recommend talking with a surgeon or getting a referral to a surgeon from your doctor.
Oh and I was told by my surgeon some stones do not show up on tests (like mine didn't) but will still cause the same symptoms as a larger stone.
