gallstones surgery

my doctor recommends surgery for removal of gallstones because after having gallstones for years with no symptoms ,last sonogram shows gallblader (gallbladder) wall thickened to approximately 7mm. and he said that wall thickening raises serious consideration for cholecystitis, adenomyosis, pancreatic, and worst cancer.... I'm very worried  and confused because I heard a lot of people after the surgery had complications, y other problems ... is the surgery
the answer ?
