Six month's ago I started passing short spurts of gas from the bowel, and the last two weeks I noticed a bit of white mucus passing after a bowel movement.  The gas seems to be more frequent when I am walking or jogging.  Feel no pain in the abdomen.  I am 70 years old, female.     Thank you.  Terry

This discussion is related to MUCUS after bowel movement.

You may want to consider checking your diet to see if any of the foods you're eating may not be agreeing with you. It can happen at any age, and it can cause gas and mucus. Mucus can be produced as a result of the bowel trying to reduce  problems with an 'irritant,' or as a side-effect of changes to the bowel flora.

If you've taken any antibiotics in the last six months, you may want to consider taking some probiotics which may help you normalize the bacteria in your GI tract. There are a number of decent brands on the market that include Culturelle, FloraQ and Digestive Advantage-IBS among others.
