I forgot to mention, or really clarify, one other thing.  If nothing I've said works, consider how when a person is going to go swimming, for example, they have to wait a half-hour before getting in the water, or they'll get stomach cramps.  Likewise, when people eat a big meal, they should not engage in some rigorous activity soon afterwards... instead, let the meal settle for a while, like an hour or two maybe.

Well, see if he will go jogging up the street and back, to where he breaks a sweat, and then see if he winds up with the same burping.  IF he does, then he has too much gas in his digestive tract that needs to be reduced.  If he does not have that burping after running all around the neighborhood, then could be in the evening he is eating or drinking something that creates gas, like carbonated drinks or certain foods, which I will mention below, that he should not indulge in at that time.

The basics of good digestion are three things:  Eating plenty of fiber foods, drinking plenty of water, and getting plenty of exercise.

The fiber foods include things like oat cereal, whole wheat bread, fresh vegies, fresh fruit as a snack, salads, and he should consume some of these each day.

Water intake can be increased by drinking an an extra glass every time he brushes his teeth, as a daily habit.

Exercise is any activity that causes him to break a sweat, like indoor stretching, a stationary bike, yard work and gardening, a long walk through the neighborhood with you, regular sports stuff like tennis with you, swimming at the YMCA, golf, any group activity with any kind of ball.  A very fun thing for the both of you to try is taking classes in dancing modern stuff like salsa, the two-step, contra dancing, square dancing, and then you can go to dance halls where they have certain nights that those dancers are supposed to come and dance.

But there's one more thing, and that has to do with what your husband is eating...cabbage and cucumbers can create gas, eating fruit with a meal instead of as a snack, gulping food or drinking a lot of carbonated drinks... there are many foods that cause gas and you can do a general online search for more of those.
