gastritis and medication

My boyfriend was diagnosed with gastritis about a year ago. He takes Nexium in the morning and Protonix before dinner. He often can't burp. He also has noticed that there often are pieces of food (not digested) in his stool. We eat very healthy, and I only make things for him that are easy to digest and that do not cause gas. Still he is having this problem.  Lastly, his muscles are very sore. Sometimes he says they are weak and other times he feels like he is carrying 30 extra pounds around. Does anyone have any of these problems? Could it be a side effect of the medications he is on?

His B12 may be low.  PPI's are know to cause this.  B12 deficiency can result in sore muscles, being tired and neuropathy.  I would tell him to get it checked.  He can then take B12 shots or sublingual B12 to build his levels up if low or borderline. I also see undigested food in my stool with PPIs not sure what causes this.
