I can't really say the Domperidone makes a huge difference but I do notice a very little change. I didn't have to go to Canada, you just have to find a pharmacy in your area that makes compound drugs and you can get it there easier. My doctor is now thinking of trying Botox injection to a part of the stomach.
I am sorry to hear that you sound like me but good to know I'm not alone. It seems like such a simple disease but boy is it painful. I still have my gallbladder. All of my disease was brought on by two surgeries to remove my ovaries and large masses during 2007. I ended up with a complete hysterecomy and almost lost my colon this past October.
I am also a mom of two small children and feel bad for them the days I can't function to well. My husband has been great and I am lucky (somedays!!!) for him. I could not have made it this far physicaly or mentaly without him. I am surprised you were able to get disablity. I tried and was told my problems were all fixable.
I have tried different drinks and have a hard time with most of them due to the fullness I get from them. I often wonder how my nutrition levels are. I heard some people can get vitamin b shots so it's easier on the stomach.
Thanks for taking the time and giving me your viewpoint and please try the Domperidone for some it is wonderful.
I also was diagnosed with gastricparesis back in Sept. 2006. I lost 20lbs in less than 2 months. I had a feeding tube inserted down my nose because I was so weak and also had a hard time getting out of bed. As soon as I would raise my head I would start vomitting. I vomitted the feeding tube up within an hour. I refused to have a longer one inserted. I went on a liquid diet. Soups, Carnation goodstart, SlimFast(the control hunger one) and shakes. I didn't vomit as much. I took Reglan and couldn't handle the side affects. Than I used Zelnorm. I started to put weight back on and was able to start eating solids. The FDA took it off the market about a month later. I tried Erythamcin next and broke out in a rash. My GI specialise just told me he could give me a perscription for the Domperidone and I could get it in Canada. Have you had any relief from it?
I feel so weak, tired, shaky, and the nausea is constant. I'm taking Zofran for it but lately it doesn't seem to help. i had to quit my job and now I'm collecting disability for this. i just had blood drawn to see if I'm having problems with my liver or pancreas too. i have to go in tomorrow for another Hida Scan.
Do you still have your gallbladder? I was diagnosed with gastricparesis after I had my gallbladder removed. I'm really interested in finding out if the Domperidone would help me. Sorry I didn't give any advise to help, but believe me after searching on the internet I can't believe how many people suffer from gastricparesis. don't feel like your complaining. When I say I don't feel good my boyfriend now responds with " So whats new your sick everyday." I fell into a major depression the first few months I was diagnosed. I honestly feel if it wasn't for my boyfriend cooking for me that I wouldn't have started back on solids. I'm 37 and a single mother of three. Because of being so weak sometimes I feel like I'm withering away and that my children are missing out on so much that I should be doing with them.
I also tried vitamins and felt they were making me sicker to my stomach. I drink Muralax 3 times a day in order to go to the bathroom. It doesn't cause the cramping and ergency that laxatives do. I was told that the laxatives can deplete your stomach of digestive enzymes, creating a more problem with the stomach. Not sure this is true or not. You may want to find out if a feeding tube would be beneficial for you to get more nutrition. I was suppose to have it for two weeks. I would appreciate it if you could give me some information on the Domperidone. You can email me at ***@****. Thanks!
