green soft poop is this normal?

green soft poop is this normal?

Well last week i was on anti biotics for a UTI i had and i believe either yesterday or the day before that i had alfredo noodles with brocclie in it but it was those pre packed ones so i'm not sure if it was actual brocclie or whiether it was just green pieces of something or another but either way i noticed that today i've been pooping a lot and it's been really soft green stool but the stool wasn't coming out in one big piece it came out in a bunch of smaller pieces i dunno if this has to do with all the water i was drinking and the anti biotics or this achphidilous good bacteria pill i take or the alphredo or if its just completly not normal please help.....oh and the stool is stinky and it makes my stomach hurt when i don't poop don't know if that last bit of info will help or not but if you could help that would be great!

Hey Becca,

yeah...sounds like possible infection, is it like IBS-D?  Or IBS-C? Anyway a change in bowel habits that last a good week are usually signs of some infection/food intolerance/allergy issue so my guess is your antibiotics really screwed up your GI tract gut flora, you're doing the right thing by taking acidolophlis pills (wow I can't spell that..)

Just a heads up sometimes after antibiotics you can get a condition called, c. difficile (infection FROM antibiotics) or like a yeast infection from antibiotics.  And to make matters worse (not to stress you out) but you can actually cause allergies and food intolerances after a short dose of antibiotics.  Your immune system sometimes gets suppressed..or messed up and then wakes up full strength thinking that wheat is a virus or bug and can make you pretty sick (celiac..)

My guess is the antibiotics really did a number on you..best bet would be to go to a doctor if you can afford it and he might put you on flagyl just to see if you improve.  They might want a stool study to see if they can figure it out and see if it's a yeast type infection which would require a different med...

OR you might just ride it out and hope that your probiotic pills do the trick but if it fails get to a doctor.  Be prepared to have food issues possibly with wheat or dairy now, or for more antibiotics for a intestinal bug.

(my not-a-doctor-advice...but good luck!)
