My name is Tomas, I'm a Canadian and 2 years ago i went to Hyderabad,India for a visit for a month, strangely i noticed a bit of pain in duodenum area shortly after that, which progressed and i do have an ulcer now,i live in Ireland now and was diagnosed with hpylori, but failed to eradicate it -been given
FlagylFlagyl Flagyl 375 Flagyl er(metronidazoleMetronidazole Metronidazole benzoate Metronidazole topical Metronidazole vaginal), clarithromycin, zoton
Question - which antibiotics you suggest to completely eradicate hpylori i got in Hyderabad?Doctors here not familiar with the those kinda strainsStrains -so i need to make sure that the right antibiotics applied
Thanks for reply
Thanks, but i already tried the treatment which according to the link you specified Clarithromycin + MetronidazoleMetronidazole Metronidazole benzoate Metronidazole topical Metronidazole vaginal + PPI greater than 80 to greater than 90% and that didn't work- the point is that H.Pylori i have is from India, Hyderabad and that is resistant to western treatments of H.Pylori -that's why i need some Indian doctors to verify what antibiotics they prescribe in order to eradicate it
If you wish to speak to a physician from India, then try the pay-doctor part of this website. But this particular forum is patient-to-patient, altho a few MDs do help out here. Also, you may wish to consult the online journal out of India concerning gastro problems, www.indianjgastro.com, and perhaps even contact one of their physicians who has published research on H. pylori in India.
I understand about the resistant strains of H. pylori in India. But also in India, they generally just give what your doctor gave you, which even has an relatively low rate of eradication in the U.S. The reason doctors in India do not ordinarily give some of the many alternatives mentioned further on in the website I gave you is because of cost considerations, compliance, and re-exposure in India, like giving higher doses, more expensive treatments, multiple times a day, some up to six weeks. I know, you were apparently treated in Canada. But it turns out you were treated just as they would in India.
Therefore, I directed you to that webpage because it offers so many choices of drugs that perhaps you have not been given, that may be far more effective even with the resistant strains in India, including:
Combination products like Helidac plus H2 blockers, four-drug regimens that add bisumuth cytoprotective agents, also three- and four-drug regimens that replace your PPI with Sucralfate or with H2 Blocker, not to mention antibiotics being subsituted for other ones, which some studies in India show Amoxicillin works better than your Metronidazole (studies in the IJG), plus the website lists four antibiotics to choose from, four H2 blockers, five PPIs, two bismuths, and three combination products.
Sorry I couldn't give you exact advice. But I think at least it was a start. H. pylori is hard to get rid of in any case, and so for a resistant form of it, you've got to go at it with everything a physician can offer.
