heartburn problems?

by cuteNbubbly, Apr 21, 2009 03:47PM
I'm a 16 year old girl and I've been having a problem with heartburn. I've had it for a whole week ever since the night of April 11 after dinner. The weird thing is that it started about one or two hours after dinner. I laid down to watch a movie and after a while, started feeling burning in my chest and stomach. I've never had it before and it is terrible. I had a trip just last weekend and I started feeling a little better after having talked to my school nurse. She thinks that I'm too stressed or anxious and I will admit I was a little stressed and all that. I started talking my problems out and then laid down. After an hour of rest, I felt almost no burn in my stomach. Now, there's just a weak burning sensation and it doesn't really hurt. Before I was constipated, my chest hurt and it felt a little hard to breathe. I also had pains in my right breast for a few days, but then it switched to the left and then disappeared. I was also kept awake sometimes for the week, but now ever since the trip, I've been getting more sleep and not waking up in the middle of the night. I sometimes started shaking when I woke up, but we've ruled that out as not eating much. I haven't been eating much because it made me feel like not eating. I've lost some weight, but not a lot. I'm not constipated as much anymore. I've been taking antacids and Prilosec for everything and it's been helping a little.

I stopped taking antacids because they were constipating me and continued taking Prilosec. Although my doctor had prescribed me to take them at bedtime, I just started taking them in the morning last Sunday and that's been a much better help. Just last night, I was woken up two hours after going to bed with hard shaking and burning in the chest. I laid back down again and the shaking went away, so we assumed I was just cold. I woke up this morning feeling better without much of a burn in my chest and stomach. My dad and I assume that it's going away, but we've scheduled an appointment with my doctor for Thursday. The weird thing is about the shaking. I didn't have it for nearly 4 days and now it decides to come back. Sometimes now, I get a stinging sensation in my chest combined with a little burning. My dad thinks I'm being a hypochondriac, but I think it's more than heartburn. Someone help!!!
