help, at my wits end

Hi, i am a 29 yr old female. One year ago my stomach started hurting constantly especially after I would eat. I had an endoscopy and all it showed was that my lower esophageal sphincter was loose and not shutting properly. I went on Nexium. It took a good two months for it to kick in. It worked for about five months until I got pregnant. I went off the Nexium due to the pregnancy. I miscarried and put myself back on the nexium. It has been over two months on the Nexium, and my problems are worse than ever. My stomach constantly hurts, whether I have eaten or not. It is now making noises all of the time, and has kind of a gnawing, buring feeling to it. I was just put on carafate yesterday. I have noticed no real changes. I am having another endoscopy done in a week. I don't know what to do. My quality of life has seriously diminished. I need help. Any ideas? OH, and I had an H Pylori test done which came up negetive.

I was given acifex a few years ago for a very bad ulcer in the pit of my stomach. The pain was quite bad all over my stomach. I took it for about a year and a half and it really helped. So much that I forgot to take them and just recently threw what was left because they were outdated. Believe me if I ever get that ulcer pain again I will ask for another prescription of acifex.

I was given acifex samples to try. I have not really tried them yet. I believe I took one a few days ago. Didn't notice a difference from one, but I'm sure it takes more than one to do something useful. I'm just scared to stop my nexium because it worked so well before. I keep on waiting for it to kick in again. It's now been 3 months. I guess it would have worked by now if it was going to. I will have to get brave and try it. Thanks.

For the moment, you're doing everything that can be done.  Hopefully the endoscopy next week will result in a firm diagnosis.  Also, nexium is only one med in the PPI (proton pump inhibitor) class of drugs.  Perhaps a different one like aciphex would work better for you.
