help in solving an argument

My husband is saying that a colonoscopy was only performed on men, as a recommended 10 years exam (starting at age 50) until recently in the 2000's.  I cannot find any data for this.  I know there is data stating colon cancer equally affects men & women but nothing about the procedure.

Can anyone help me prove him wrong?

thanks for the info.  I did try researching (a little).  So that would be at least over 26 years.  Sometimes I don't know where he gets these thoughts.  It's like if he hasn't heard of it that it must not be so.  thanks again.

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  I don't know where to find data on this, but I asked my mom who has been a doctor for 26 years and she said that they have been performing colonoscopies on women and men usually at age 50 for screening, and people younger than that if they have GI issues or a family history of problems for as long as she's been a doctor and much longer than that too.
