hemochromatosis liver lesion

Hi, thank you for taking my ?  I am a 39 yo male diagnosed w hemochromatosis in aug 2005 w a serum ferritin level of 4069.  I have had ct scans and mri"s in the past regularily(VA hospital tampa) and today i had an mri that showed a lesion that used to be there and is now 1 cm bigger.  i am told the lesion is 1 1/2 inches.  I have been de ironed now for about 2 years (19 ferritin) and my question is if it were serious wouldn't it have appeared before i was deironed.  my doctor wants to do another ct scan but i don't want all that radiation.  then possibly a biopsy.  also my liver function tests were normal.  Also am i still at an increased risk for liver cancer even when i am deironed.    Thanks again.
