hemochromatosis

by katyidid, Jun 05, 2008 11:11AM
I had to have my gallbladder removed a couple years ago. I was told I have hemochromatosis 12 yrs ago.But never saw a professional about it.  My regular doc was just monitoring it. Was just wondering if it could have affected my gallbladder. I am also worried cus I have started to have chest pain and shortness of breath. If it is iron build up around the heart, is it reversible?
                                   Thanks

There's a wonderful overview of this at the National Digestive Disease site. You can track it down at: http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/hemochromatosis/index.htm#risk
