hiatal hernia and more .... but not sure what.

by jahitson, Oct 19, 2009 07:49PM
I was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia after being misdiagnosed with anxiety and panic attacks for quite some time. Recently I have been having mpre hernia/abdominal discomfort and have started watching my diet more avoiding coffee, alcohol, fatty foods, dairy and some gluten. I had a chiropractor attempt to manipulate the hernia during which she mentioned that my gall bladder area felt swollen. I used about 40 drops a day of a liver/gallbladder herbal tincture diluted in water for a few days. Four days later on a Saturday I had stopped using the tincture and started to develop small hives and by Sunday I started taking some benadryl because the hives were getting worse. Monday at 1:50AM I woke up with hives covering me head to toe. I saw a doctor on Monday and received a steroid injection and continued with the benadryl but they did not subside they kept coming back stronger between doses of benadryl. I saw a dermatologist on Tuesday and was prescribed Allegra 180mg every 12 hours and did some blood work. The blood work came back showing elevated SGOT 105 and SGPT 169 and slightly elevated Tbil 1.1. They referred me back to my doctor and said not to worry about the elevated SGOT and SGPT, that it was probably from taking tylenol or consuming alcohol. I almost never take tylenol or any pain meds and consume alcohol on a very moderate basis.

Could the steroid injection I received the previous day have caused these elevated enzymes? And are there any explanations for the hives? I am still managing the hives with Allegra 180mg every 12 hours but they are still coming back in between doses and it has been 10 days since the hives began.
