i need answers

hello
i am a 77 young female, verry active, lastjuly i had 18 inches colon out,for a very larg polyk, non cancer came home but had imflormation, called my dr but he had left the country,went to er , was told incision in colon was leaking, they decided to give me antibotic (antibiotic) and see if it would grow up, was  that the right decision? 10 months now im bloating, feet swelling, gas so bad afraid to be around people, im sure thay can hear the gurgles, diarrhea like warter sometimes i almost cant make it to the bathroom, dr said it should have gotten better by now surgen to buisy to talk to you , when the nurse finly returned my call she sugested ,flora.Q  im taking aciphex i was on nexium but dr thought that could be the cause for diarrhea, im on zetia for chlostrol, toprol for pvc;s not having pvc;s now , is this a common thing with colon surgery could any of the meds that i am on causing the swelling , i have plans to take my adopted doughter to florida she is a 37 year old down;s child loves to ride the train, please help,  thank you,  nancy lee

It is unfortunate that the surgeon cannot talk to you. I would consider another surgical opinion if you are not comfortable with the care you are receiving.  

If there is concern that the area of surgery is leaking, you can consider some testing to see if this is the case.  An abdominal CT scan as well as an endoscopy can be helpful in finding any leaks or strictures.  

You can discuss these options with you personal physician.

Speaking as a surgeon, it's shameful that your surgeon won't talk to you. One possibililty is that the area where they stitched your colon back together has become narrowed. It's called a stricture. If the surgeon won't see you, I'd suggest contacting the gastroenterologist (the doctor who did the scope procedure that found the polyp). If there is a stricture, often it can be corrected using a scope to enlarge it without having to have more surgery.
