2 hours! I just thought I had IBS & nervous stomach. The illiostomy is to be reversed, when my output slows down, and the output thickens.I take meds to slow it down, but everything just goes thru me too fast, too liquidy. The severity comes & goes, lost over 33lbs after surgery, which included removing almost half of both small & large intestine. Why is this so? Dr expected to do reversal in3-4 months, its been over a year. How can I get healthy enough to have the reversal? If he did it now, seems I'd have worse problems.Anyone have/had a similar problem, with high output, even while taking immodium and levisan/hyocyamine?Does just more time help? Thank you.
High output comes with this type of surgery, but if your's is worse than normal, I would look at your diet, add fiber and remove things that can cause loose stool. My grandson had an ileostomy and high output was normal, but it didn't stop his doctor from doing the reversal. I would get a second opinion on this. You should have been reconnected a long time ago, and your doctor needs to look more closely at why you're having too much out-put. From what I've experienced this should not stop the reversal from taking place and may help things. Food is going right thru you and will continue to do so as long as you have the ileostomy, I'm not sure what your doctor expects?? Start drinking Ensure in hopes of building yourself back up, and get a second opinion on this.
