IBS has left me with incomplete bowel evacuation.  I don't know what normal feels like anymore.  Looking for any help I can get.

As an IBS sufferer, I agree with the comments above that recommend Psyllium. It is natural...like a food, so it is well tolerated although there are some people who have an allergy to it; very few.
I have been taking magnesium citrate or magnesium glycinate for several years, every night before bed with some water or almond milk (since I cannot tolerate any dairy). First thing in the morning it does its magic; quick, complete and painless bowel evacuation. I do on occasion take psyllium on an empty stomach, mid afternoon or at bedtime because I know it is good for the bowel and also lowers cholesterol (although I have no problem in this area).
Btw according to studies, 60% of Americans are magnesium deficient so taking 2 - 3 tablets of this beneficial mineral....also with calcium to balance it out/or calcium rich almond milk, is a good idea.
To reiterate, psyllium and magnesium are both natural...in that they are not drugs. There are many excellent solutions as seen in other comments.Good luck and good health to all of you!

Please try psyllium seed husks. I`m using a product called Fibre Force that contains mostly psyllium but a couple of other ingredients useful for bowel evacuation. So far it has worked wonders for me. I tried various other meds and supplements to no avail before I discovered Psyllium.

Hope this helps.

An increase in fiber helps peristalsis work better and will give you more complete BMs.
Best sources in my experience are plenty of fruit and veggies, but never bran.
Oats can be helpful, but some people with IBS are gluten intolerant and have to avoid all cereals except rice.

If you want to take a fiber supplement, psyllium husks are helpful, buy them from your health food store, or pharmacy.

Everyone is different, you have to find out what works for you.  Good Luck!
