inflamed duodenum

I have a cyst on my kidneys which was drained last year, but after having another ultrasound I have been told it is filling up again.  I have also had a gastroscopy due to acid reflux, and have been told that I have an inflamed duodenum.
I am waiting to have my cyst 'de-roofed' and drained, but until then is there any medication I can take for the acid refulx which is causing me a great deal of pain.  I have a terrible taste in my mouth and feel sick a lot of the time.  I am taking gasviscon which helps a little.

You have to have a breath test for Helycobacter pylori (which is the most common cause of duodenal inflammation). If positive, you get antibiotics, which usually heal inflammation. Until then, you should ask for some anti-acid drug, like H2 antagonist (Zantac or other) or omeprazol (Prilosec, Nexium).

Avoid any acidic food (fruits, fruit juices, wine, vinegar) aspirin or other antirheumatic drugs. Have a small portions. You can also try black tea. Without drugs, yyou'll do nothing. And without curing eventual H.pylori, drugs won't help.
