If you had H. pylori, there's a good possibility that you should still be on gastric meds for awhile. You don't know how long the H. pylori was present, but if the cells went toward intestinal metaplasia, it had to have been for awhile and it could be while before the acid problems settle down. You might want to speak with your doc on that score. You might also want to consider checking out a GERD diet or at least least making sure you're limiting foods that might cause increased levels of acid. You can find representative examples of a GERD diet at www.gicare.com.
As long as the H. pylori is gone and if you tamp down any residual acid problems, your metaplasia state should reverse itself. But make sure to check things out in a timely manner as suggested by your doc.
