iron, ast, and t bili are all high

by Tars253, Feb 13, 2009 03:13PM
Hi,
I am 36 and have high T bili, high AST and my iron is over 250.  I heard it could be hemachromatosis.  Anyone else close to my symptoms?  What tests do they give you, and do you have the same quality of life as others?  I am all new to this

Visit Lab Tests Online at http://www.labtestsonline.org/understanding/analytes/cbc/glance.html and check your results.

Here are some links that might help:
http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/hemochromatosis/
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/hemochromatosis/DS00455/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hemachromatosis

You might find some insight there.

Good luck and Godspeed,

Sam

No problem.  Please let me know how you make out?  Maybe someone who has Hemachromatosis will be able to give you the benefit of their experience?

Good luck and Godspeed,

Sam

Well I went for my test today and my iron levels are high but everything else is normal.  My iron went down from the first time though which is good...he wants to wait another month and check it again.  Not sure what is causing it to stay high though when my sat % and assay of ferritin is normal
