laparscopic appendectomy

laparscopic appendectomy

My daughter just had her appendix removed via laparscope. She is now nine days post-op and has a large hard mass underneath the surgical site about the size of a golf ball.  They took the appendix out the left side, not the right which is where the mass is located.
Does anyone know what this might be?

This can be only evaluated by a surgeon.

It may be a hematoma, part of intestine (hernia), inflammation...

Hi.  I had a laproscopic colon resection 3 months ago.  He went in just to the left and below my belly button.  I remember feeling a hard area there and when I went to my first follow up, he told me that it was normal.  something about cutting through the muscles there or something.  I can tell you that it is not there anymore....

Oh, also, I would agree with boron that the surgeon should be the one to evaluate.  I would have her call him, or you ( if she is under age).  I called my surgeon several times in the first couple of months post op with questions as they always seem to pop up after you leave the office or they leave the hospital room.
