large stools

my son has large stools about the size of a pop can around which plugs the toilet but my concern is with him. There seems to be no blood asociated with the stools. Can this cause damage to him .He is 14 and about 100lbs.I have never heard him complain about pain.

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  If it isn't causing him any pain and he isn't getting constipated there shouldn't be anything to worry about.  Everyone is different.  If you want to try something you can try increasing his intake of fiber, fruits and vegetables, and water.

If the food change doesn't help,  maybe look into stool softeners. I am not sure how old you have to be but maybe it will help.

I would not recommend subjecting him to stool softeners which can cause problems, unless he is complaining of pain or constipation.
