Hi there:

I'm very sorry you are suffering from this pain.  I sincerely hope this post will save you some agony.  First off, I'm not a doctor and I know next-to-nothing about medicine.

My illness began with discomfort on my left-hand-side.  Within six months, it was right-sided pain.  Shortly after that, the pain was constant.  I've been through at least a dozen surgeries and procedures since that time and I'm almost bedridden at this point.

The most important thing I can share with you is to start a low-fat diet immediately.  Also, start a journal and write down everything that goes into or comes out of your body including medications, foods, etc. as well as how you feel.  Avoid everything fried, everything with a high fat content and alcohol.  If you can try that for a month or so, see how your symptoms are.  It did not work for me but it might help you.  Hopefully, you won't develop severe nausea.

Is the taste in your mouth almost metallic, like tasting a penny?  The only thing that I've found that helps that is brushing twice a day, flossing and mouthwash.

If a low-fat diet doesn't help you, please do some research and find the best Gastroenterologist you can.  If they are skilled at endoscopic ultrasound, so much the better.  Once you've found someone who is highly recommended, check them out at www.ratemds.com.  If they still sound good, ask your family doctor to refer you.

Feel free to email me or post again.  I'm happy to share anything I've learned over the past two years.

All the best,

Sam
