left side and back pain

i recently experienced a dull pain on my left side near my rib cage and the pain wraps around to my back. Ive seen my doctor 3 times and she said it can be muscle pains. They have ran a few urine test and everything seems to be fine. However , at times i feel sharp pains and when i sleep on my left side...the pain is more intense. I had this pain for 4 weeks now and at times im starting to feel the pain on the right side as well. Any one feel this pain ? or know what this can be ?
