localized severe abdominal pain

I wonder can anyone help, or if any have experienced similar symptoms. I was woken at 1.30 am by a severe pain in my stomach. It is located in one spot, on the left side about 3 inches directly across from my navel. It lasted for about 4 hours before fading away and came back mid morning and stayed there all day. It varies in intensity from really really severe to either going completely or easing off to a mild pain. I do not have constipation or diarrhoea but my frequency of bowel movements has increased. I went 8 times yesterday and 3 times today. For the most part my bm look normal although some of them were hard and very dark brown. Saw an emergency gp today and he is stumped. Blood pressure, temp, pulse all normal, stomach exam seemed normal, not painful or tender to touch. Appetite has lessened, normally i eat like a horse. Still eating just not as much. Any advice appreciated, very scared and worried.

Forgot to add had a total hysterectomy 10 years ago so i know it is not a gynacological issue.
