lots of blood in stool

i hope that someone can help. i am 32 years old, no kids, just me and the husband. no anal sex [sorry if TMI]

this morning i had such a bad urge to go number two. when i did, i wiped and the tissue was bright red and somewhat strings of clots. i had a bit of a panic attack and calmed myself down. the toilet water was also red. this has never happened to me before ever. about 10 minutes later, i had to go again, and there was bowel movement and no red at all. nothing.

please help?

thanks. if it happens again, i will get it checked out. not to sound nasty, but my husband.....looked.....back there, for me. definitely was/is a hemmhoroid

I would go in & see your family doctor, & see about getting referred for a GI specialist consultation. I am 34 years old, female. I was having on & off mild rectal bleeding for about 6 months to a year. I kept putting it off. I thought maybe it was hemorrhoids due to a vaginal birth years ago. I've had hemorrhoid problems since the birth. However, the bleeding started to increase, and I was starting to get more constipated, so I finally saw my family doctor. He said it was probably hemorrhoids too, but best get it checked out by a GI specialist. I saw a GI specialist who recommended a colonoscopy. I had a colonoscopy this past Dec. '14. The doctor found hemorrhoids (which he banded), diverticulosis, & a 1.2 cm tubulovillous adenoma (type of colon polyp that can turn malignant if left for years). He said it could've been cancerous within about 7 years in his opinion. The doctor removed it, & fortunately pathology said it wasn't malignant yet. I have to see my GI specialist this month for a follow up appt., and have another colonoscopy in 3 years now. I'm now considered a higher risk for colon cancer, and need more frequent colonoscopies than most people my age. From what I learned from  my GI specialist, rectal bleeding is never normal. Whether it's hemorrhoids, IBS, diverticulosis, polyps, or even cancer, anytime one has rectal bleeding get it checked out! Better safe, than sorry... I hope everything goes well for you, best wishes. First thing, see your doctor. Anytime you have GI bleeding, it's a good idea to get it checked out. It's probably something simple though so try not to worry.

The blood is loose and in clots so that means it's source is likely close to your rectum - hemiriods, etc? Also, you seemed to pass it quickly followed by normal stool which is good as well. If the bleeding is upstream, the blood will be in the stool and the stool can become black in color.

Hopefully it's a simple, benign issue but do get it checked out. If you let it go on too long, you can develop anemia like I did.
