Several months ago, I had similar sympomps, but I had mucus also. After blood and stool tests, my diagnostic was a bowel infection. After 7 days taking CiproCipro Cipro hc Cipro i.v. Cipro xr, all was fine and no more pain or blood.
I had similar symptoms but mine started out with diarrhea that I thought was coming from a viurs. I had bloodyBloody or tarry stools diarrhea and then just blood and mucus. I had a blood test that showed my white blood cell count elevated in the 12,000 range and then a stool sample test that showed over 100 fecalFecal culture Fecal occult blood test Fecal occult blood test (fobt) Fecal smear Flushable reagent stool blood test Stool guaiac testleukocytesLeukocyte alkaline phosphatase present. (indication of colitisColitis Irritable bowel syndrome Ischemic colitis Necrotizing enterocolitis Salmonella enterocolitis Ulcerative colitis) I just had a colonoscopy yesterday and the dr said there was a portion of the lower colon that looked like a "touch" of colitis. He said it didn't appear to be ulcerated or chron's disease. He took a biopsy and said it would take a week to get results. I've been researching ulcerative colitis and I am terrified. I don't see any difference in plain ole' colitis and the ulcerative kind. He told me to continue taking immodium until he sees me again on Feb. 13th and then he will know how to treat it. If it was severe.... do you think he would prescribe medication right away? My advice to you is just go and get it checked out right away. It could be just a bacterial infection and be treated with antibiotics. My prayers are with you!
