lower left ribcage pain ..sharp neddle like to back

my doctor has ordered all sorts of tests..ultra-sound and now MRI....some test he did showed my pancreas was "calcified"..
...all he could figure is it had something to do with my thyroid which was removed a few years back...at one point he said my case was strange cause only heavy drinkers..which I am not..get these issues...after the first few tests he thought the pain I have lower left ribcage and a straight to the back "jap"..like a neddle sharp strait pain that just comes and is then over...
...I am about to go "NUTS" trying to get someone tigure this out....anyone have an answer?
