lower stomach pain

I am 23 years old and have had some (i believe) digestive problems for over a year. I used to be a heavy diet coke drinker, drinking over 3 liters a day. I cut back on that quite a bit and I started having some burning when I urinated. I was checked for a UTI in which it came back negative. The doctor stated there was minimal trace amounts of blood in the urine, however for a male my age and being as active as I am that it wasn't anything to worry about. Shortly after that I became constipated quite frequently which is very abnormal for me. Bowel movements came out in a pebble like form. Constipation lasted for probably 6 to 8 months and I have been trying to drink more water as I thought that maybe it was dehydration. About 1 month ago I had a headache and I took about 1300 milligrams of aspirin (which I know is too much) and about 2 hours later developed intense lower stomach pain followed by diareha. Ever since then I have had lower stomach pain which is mostly positioned on the left side but sometimes is on the right as well. Pain is not intense but is enough to be annoying. Bowel movements are now sometimes soft and regular followed by being runny. The urge to go to the bathroom is normal with no stomach upset. Any ideas?

I had a lot of pain in my lower left quadrant, it turned out to be diverticulosis.... I had lots of the same symptoms you have had... If you can, I suggest a colonoscopy...
