mass on pancreas

Hi, just trying to see if i could find out any information about a large mass on the top of the pancreas. My mother has been told by her doctor that she has a large mass on the top of her pancreas. She is 43 years old and doesnt drink or smoke. She has been having pains in her stomach and has lost 15 lbs in 3 months. Im not sure if this weight was lost because she hasent been eating as much as normal because of the stomach pains. So iguess im just trying to find out what this could be besides cancer. can pancreitis appear as a "mass" on an MRI?
