middle back pain

I had brain surgery (Chiari 1 Malformation) 2 years ago, Gall Bladder surgery in Jan 2008, and Anterior Disc Surgery in Sept 2008. Since my last surgery I have had continuous pain in my middle back just below my right shoulder blade and alot of the time severe. My Neuro Surgeon has ordered a cream w/several diff meds in it, Physical Therapy, Acupunture and nothing seems to help. I am at my wits end with this and I need to go back to work. Does anyone have any idea what this is and what I can do to stop the pain????

If you're also have other symptoms like diarrhea or constipation/diarrhea, possibly nausea and stomach upset along with the pain you might want to look into sphincter of Oddi dysfunction (SOD) which can occur after gallbladder surgery. It can come from sludge or stones that form afterward, or are lodged during the sugery in the common bile duct. It can also result from spasms of the bile duct and sphincter.

Make sure you have you liver and pancreatic enzyme levels checked. You may also want to ask your doc about an MRCP.
