my 2 year old son

my 2 year old son

about 2 weeks ago my son was vomitting every night for about 3 nights in a row on the 3rd night he was throwing up uncontrolably we then took him to the ER were they said it was a stomach virus and all they gave him was ondansetron ODT the pill to help stop the vommiting the next day we took him to his PCM were they checked him for strep and urinairy tract infection and both came back negative. Then a week goes buy were he did not throw up anything but he was eating everything in sight non stop so my wife and I were happy to see him eat like a horse and we though he was making up from when he was not eatting. Then the night of July 1st 2009 he started throwing up non stop it was so bad that he dry heaved so much he turned blue and stopped breathing from dry heaving we rushed him to the ER were they gave him a shot in the thigh of ZOFRAN (ODT) we told the doc about a friend we have that went to panama (central america) and when he game back he had the same symptoms wich his were on and off for like 2 years until they saw a doc that was from south africa and after hearing about his symptoms he had him checked for Giardia (parasite) wich came back positive. So i took it upon my self to argue with the doctor in the er room to write us a perscription for a stool sample (O&P) and I took the sample to the lab here on hill afb (I am active duty USAF) and they are telling me 2 weeks for the results I am not going to let my son stay sick for 2 more weeks is there a way they can speed it up. Everytime we tell our doctor whats going on its always the flu, stomach virus but they never want to check for parasites hell i am paying for my insurace so whats the big deal and also what are some things I can do at home to make him feel a little better thanks

Your poor child!  I also, do not think this is a stomach virus or flu!  When a child is vomiting like this at his age, he can become dehydrated very easily, and this is of big concern to me.  Pedialyte would replenish his potassium, and electrolytes, but if he can't keep it down?  Is your son having bowel movements okay?  It's important that he is.
I would be every bit as angry as you are!  I would also think they would put him in the hospital where they can monitor him, and keep him hydrated until the problem is found. I've  had my share of bad doctors.  They are working for you, can you get him to see a different doctor?  Someone needs to take an interest in your son, and these doctors aren't.  I have many times had to go to the administrator of the hospital to get my sons proper care.  Don't call, just go there, and tell your story.  Insist that they get involved in how your son is being treated, this has always worked for me. They also have the ability to speed up testing. But he needs a very thorough exam. In the meantime, feed your son foods that are easily digested, and get plenty of fluids in him.  Also, pay attention to what he ate just previous to the vomiting. Please post if his bowels are moving okay, and what they are like.
