negative response to flagyl. why??

hi my name is steven 19 yrs old well after a big 4 month chronic dairrhea case  i was finaly relieved when i whent to my gastro and had the endoscopy done witch came out very good i mean fo what i was expecting it did seem good no inflmationinthe stomach or anyhing like that stomach looked in very good conditions but a parasite was found..so i was perscribed metronidazole 250mg witchis the same for flagyl and the last 2 days ive been getting really bad diarrhea even some orangy looking stool i was a bit confused becaused it looked some what like blood so i called mygastro and he told me to stop it and to go on monday to see hi m again so imwondering why i had this reaction????

Let me know how you get on at doctor then and if he says it's OK for you to take the priobotic yoghurts. Hope you feel better soon.

heythanks ill surely ask about the yogurt thing because iveheard and read that antibiotics do kill bad bacteria but they kill the good ones to so ill ask him tomorrow about it

Hi Steven, also may want to ask doc to specificallly test for C Diff (google symptoms) if he hasnt already.  Flagyl is one nasty drug, but it is first in line to treat alot of gut infections, C Diff being one of them.  Best of luck to you.

Yes I remember Flagyl well ! Nearly took the lining of my bowel away with the dreadful diarrhoea it gave me. I was wondering if you should ask your doctor if it would be OK to take some priobotic yoghurts when you are taking whatever you are changed to - to put some good bacteria back into your bowel. Don't do it without asking your doctor of course.

A lot of people can't handle Flagyl. It's nasty on the GI tract and can have a lot of adverse effects. The doc will probably switch meds, substituting something else.
