obstruction

My mother had colon surgery several years ago. More recently she had a vertebra compression and stopped eating due to the narcotics for pain. The physical therapist recommended a temporary peg feeding tube because of lack of energy to do exercises to walk again after weeks in bed.  She had been walking 30 minutes at a time for exercise prior to the compression. If she had another obstruction could the temporary peg feeding tube be used to suction out the obstruction and possibly be a life-saving measure if it bought more time?  I realize this is what-if, but trying to learn all about it.  Thank you so much,   Maidenlake
