oily, frothy stools

oily, frothy stools

I have recently been diagnosed w/ severe vitamin D deficency. I was tested for celiac disease - that was negative. Also- my calcium levels are fine. She ran the Vit D test b-cuz of chronic -unexplained pain I was having. She also did a CBC, sedrate, TSH, folic acid and vitamin B profile, lipid profile - all cam back normal.   Anyways- here is my question... I have also been having bouts of oily , loose, frothy stools.  Do you think all or any of this is connected? If so, what could it be and what should I be tested for. If not - same questions apply.
P.S. It may also be helpful to know that I am 30 yr old female w/ no major health conditions,
Thanks- A. Rogers

The type of stool you're describing can be caused by fat malabsorption due to celiac problems or perhaps by pancreatic problems. If you haven't been tested for pancreatic issues make sure that is done.

In my opinion, the blood tests and the biopsy for celiac issues are not the most reliable tests in the world. You might consider either doing a fecal antibody test and genetic test for celiac issues (see enterolab.com, or other labs that do similar testing), or try a gluten exclusion diet to see what happens. There are far too many people who are tested via blood tests and told they're negative when in point of fact they're not.
