I've also encountered this problem now for 4 days now. I'm assuming it will have to be followed up with blood work. I'm running high fevers throughout the last 4 days as well. Any idea as to what/why ?

Orange ruffie is one of the fish that can cause the oily discharge. You should be just fine once it's out of your system, and you probably won't have an issue with other fish dishes. Just avoid the ruffie in the future.

However, if the oily discharge continues, it could be an indication of a digestive issue. If that does happen, check with your doctor.

I've had orange ruffie within 48 hours... Yesterday I ate leftovers and today I am noticing a red-orange oil coming out of my *** accompanied with gas. The fish was awesome... But this makes me 're think eating fish entirely. I can't think of any other time this has happened in 22 almost 23 years of my life (I will be 23 in October) and frankly I love eating fish (sushi mostly) am I ever going to be able to eat fish again? Or is this what I can expect from now on?

I left a message for 1 member and thought after reading how many are asking. This may have to go into 2 post. I have found out after having this problem myself how easy the answer is. I think we have all heard the expression it's so simple it's stupid, well this is one of those things.  There are 2 really good solutions 1. Certain types of fish allergis 2. certain types of nut allergies. My favorite snack is cashews after eating hands fulls all the time. Certain nuts (cashews and peanuts being the worst) Are grown in other countries where they are trying to stay away from the cemicals we use on are fields so they use an interesting product. Bugs, bacteria, worms, etc do not like certain smells it tells them the plant is not eatable to them so they are intentionally detered away by the farmers spraying certain types of fish oil. You got it fish oil (that much fish oil I would not even go near) Although you have to give these countries credit for not using our garbage. However the body expells bad bacteria as quickly as possible and in some cause like we are discussing the body gets confussed to the idea is it good or bad bacteria so it expells everything in protection. Unfortunately it even strips the top part of the stomach's protective coating and all the way down to dispose of it.

Hence the reason so many today have peanut allergies. They are trying to do right but forgot about those other food allergies in the meantime. I've been told that after 3-5 days staying away from fish and nuts there should be a huge decrease to even stopping the situation, But after 2 weeks of staying away from anything with fish oil or nuts of any kind it does not improve to go back to the doctor's for further investigation.

I've been 1 day and already see an improvement to almost non-exsistant, only after cleaning myself maybe once a day of the substance.Read all labels for a few days on your foods remember no fish oil or nuts and good luck hope this helps.

What you've described is exactly what happened to me today.  One difference is that the color wasn't orange, it was neon green/yellow.  No plain at all.  Your passing the gas description was right on.  Was very concern but realized the condition is called "steatorrhea."  I thought back to all the foods that I've eaten and the butterfish was dead on.  One thing I do have to say is that "foul" smell does not do justice to how extremely disgusting it really does smell; so bad it's almost toxic to smell.

I have a similar case of this today. And last night I ate some butter fish.  There is a large amount of this orange oily substance.  My first bowel movement in the morning, nearly the whole top layer of the toilet water was orange oil.  I dont have any abdominal pain or anything, but im getting a little bit of a cold.

This could be caused by pancreatic enzyme deficiencies in the small intestine.  If it cannot be linked to eating high oil content fish or excessively fatty/oily meals, and the condition persists, you should probably see a doctor for bloodwork.  Also see below (an old answer regarding oil bowel movements):

Oily or floating stools (steatorrhea) suggests malabsorption or chronic pancreatitis.  I would suggest tests to look for this.

For chronic pancreatitis, one can obtain a plain abdominal film to look for any calcifications.  Serum amylase and lipase levels can also be obtained.  If this is the case, pancreatic enzyme supplementation (using medication) is indicated.

For malabsorption, it would be a good idea to send the stool off for analysis.  A fecal fat test can be done to evaluate for fat malabsorption.  You can also test for celiac disease via a blood test.

You may want to discuss these possibilities with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.

Well, if the discharge is actually an oil, this may be from really big amount of oily/fatty food, the only other cause is fat malabsorption from some reason.

I don't know, wait for few days, then you should have a stool fat test. Parasites are my next guess (stool test for parasites).
