only hemorrhoids ?

by arturo, Dec 17, 2001 12:00AM
I started having hemorrhoidal symptoms 6 weeks ago. They are, as far as I can see, external (or at least in the frontier) in the front, right and left sides of the anus. The two first two weeks I had pain and big discomfort, now the pain has disappeared, but they (the external hemorrhoids) are still present with the same red-blue appearance.  I visited my doctor in the 4th week and he prescribed me some venotonic and patience.

Now my symptoms are:

- After passing a bowel movement or after a meal I sometimes feel a very intense and annoying "fullness" sensation than can last one o two hours

- Sometimes a feel a discomfort, like itching o something similar in the intra-gluteus area near the tail bone area.

I'm following a diet and have lost about 7 pounds in the six weeks since the problem started. I can have bowel movements daily without problems, no too hard, nor diarrhoea

I haven't detected blood in my stool

Are the former hemorrhoidal symptoms o can be something different ?

What do you recommend ?

I myself have had all the symptoms that you described from hemorrhoids.  First thing you can do is increase your dietary fiber to around 25-35grams a day.  This can be done with high fiber cereal, bread, beans, raw broccoli, raw veggies and lots of fruit.  Or you can try over the counter metamucil, fibercon etc...
The ideal is to soften your stool and not cause any irritation to the hemorrhoids.  The next thing you can do is ask your doctor for some Proto-foam.  This medicine works well and cleared mine up quickly.  Try wiping with baby wipes for less irritation and soak in warm to hot baths as often as you can.

Goodluck
