pain and a little swelling directly under my right breast extending horizontally

i had a right kidney and a foot of my intestines removed in 2000. i try to be careful of fatty foods, and i always try to cut the excess fat off. Lately i have been feeling like a real bucket of poop. i am on prescription ic cholestyramine powdwer 1 packet 4 times a day and also prescription immodium, 8 a day. i have to admit i take 10 of them on a daily basis. i get really tired and cranky pretty easily. is there something else i should be checking? When i was 20 years old i went thru a lot of front to back radiation that made me incapable of having children. It almost always seems that anything weird that happens to my body is always blamed on this. anyways the right side is very sore. i can hardly pick up my tote bag. please let me know if it reads that something might be weird. please send some feedback. Thanks love

You note a sore right side as well as having to take 8-10 Immodium tablets per day (assume for chronic diarrhea).

Inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel or infectious causes leading to colitis are all possibilities.  I would suggest a CT scan first to evaluate the possibility of inflammation of the bowel wall.  The CT scan can also evaluate any masses which may be present.

If negative, a colonoscopy would certainly be a reasonable test to further evaluate your symptoms.

Radiation can also lead to inflammation of the bowel wall leading to diarrhea.  Again, the colonoscopy should be able to detect if this is indeed the case.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
