pain in left rib cage

i hope this is the right forum. for about 2 month now i have been having these episodes where i feel a sharp stabbing pain in my left rib cage ( about 2" up from the bottom rib). it is not constant but quick jabs. the first occurence happened while i was pregnant. i miscarried about a week later so i thought it was related to the pregnancy. it happened again about a month later. i had not had dinner yet so i dont think it was food related. about a week later i had another episode. i had lunch at 4pm then went to the airport and was unable to eat again. the episode occured around 10pm. now 2 weeks later it happened again. i am going to go to the doctor as soon as i can get an appointment but i would like to know what this could be.
