A Hiatal Hernia may be caused from your esophagus or stomach trying to push against an small opening in your diaphragm. When I had a hiatal hernia, the pain was not too great, but bugged me just enough to be uncomfortable. When I felt the pressure beginning, I pushed back on the point of entry, and it helped.Locate the point of entry with your fingers the next time you have pain so you can show your doctor. I remember that I was dieting at the time, and after I lost about 20 pounds, the pain stopped. I do not know how a doctor diagnoses a hiatal hernia and how to cure the pain. The next time you visit your doctor, mention to him/her whether your pain is from a hiatal hernia.
