pain under right rib

by weezee7, Nov 06, 2009 01:54AM
I have been experiencing pain under my right rib for about 3 months.  It started when I was running long distance. It occurred at about 2 miles and made me stop cold.  Has been coming back every time I run or bike strenuously.  It stays with me for 3-6 days after this effort and quite frankly is freaking annoying! I hurt my back doing shoulder shrugs about 6 month ago and wonder if its somehow related.  My back injury has not shown any improvement either.  Both feel better when I do no physical exertion but what the hell..I can't exercise anymore. I have no stress release other than meditation and such.  Any suggestions????

Have you seen a doctor about this pain yet?  It's gone on long enough, so investigate it.  It sounds to me more like a soft tissue injury since you're so active.  A physical therapist should be able to help in that case, but you'll need a doctor's referral.  You obviously miss exercising so it's time to find out what's going on and do something about it.  Short term rest of a month or less is fine, but you don't want to stop moving for the rest of your life, right?  :-)

Thanks for the advice....i agree I do need to see a doctor.  The problem is I don't have insurance and have more pressing matters such as my teeth need about $2,000 worth of work and the longer I wait on the that the more expensive it gets.  Fortunately I do have a friend who is a nurse and she asked a doc whats up for me.  He asked if it hurts more after greasy foods which is related to gallbladder problems.  So I had some fast-food last night to test it and while it didn't hurt at first it did seem worse in the morning.  Hopefully that's not the issue cuz I know that won't be cheap.  Maybe if this Obama insurance goes though I can get some help without going into further debt  :-/
