pancreas problems

I was wondering what causes pancreastitis and can that turn into cancer? my Mother died of pancreas cancer, but she never complaind of pains like mine, does this mean that i am a candidate for getting waht she had because my pancrease is swelling! last check was up 480 was hospitalized and starved! whats really going on here?

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  Pancreatitis is usually caused by gallstones or alcohol.  Pancreatitis can't turn into pancreatic cancer but people who already have pancreatic cancer, can get pancreatitis which is why you and your mother had the same symptoms.
