pancreas

I had 2/3 of my pancreas removed in 2005.  Also, they had to remove my spleen.  I know have only the upper part of my pancreas left.  Again, I am starting to have the same feelings as before.  Chronic trips to the bathroom.  Loose Bowels.  Several times a day.  Severe back pain in the upper and middle left back.  Also, having severe pain in the area of my last incision on the left side.  This was the worst surgery ever, I have had two artificial hips and 2 revisions.  That was nothing compared to this pancreas deal.  I am losing my appetite again.  I have swelling in my stomach. I have an appt. with my gastro doctor next week.  Probably back to the surgeon.  I know my body.  Believe me.  Does anyone know anyone who lives without a pancreas?  This scares me!

Do, please, look up the "Pancreatitis Supporter's Network" on Google (UK based).  It's a very informative and helpful site for sufferers to chat and offer their own experience and help to others.

Best wishes.

Bless your heart!  You really have been put through the medical wringer.  :-(  I don't think there is much more the docs can do with your pancreas, and you obviously need to hang on to what you've got left.  Unless cancer is present, I seriously doubt any surgeon will recommend removing the remaining part of the organ.  Your digestive problems will only worsen.  At the very least, you should be referred to a pain management physician to help you manage the symptoms.  I hope you can at least get some clear answers from your doctor.
