inflammatoryInflammatory bowel disease
Ulcerative colitis bowel disease or malabsorption. If there is indeed abnormal discharge in the stool, a lower endoscopy can certainly be considered - either a flexible sigmoidoscopy or a colonoscopy can be discussed. These tests can evaluate for some of the more common causes.
Malabsorption can be considered via testing the stool for fecal fat.
These options may be brought up with your GI referral.
Followup with your personal physician is essential.
