Two things come to mind as to what is happening to you.
First, some medications that seem innocent enough can cause this kind of diarrhea. I was taking Ativan, a benzodiazepine tranquilizer, and I had diarrhea several times a day for six months and nobody knew what was wrong. So, I reviewed side effects of the four medicines I was taking, and Ativan said something about indigestion
. So, I went off the drug, and bingo, I also ended the diarrhea. Therefore, could be you are like me, so try to remember during the time frame when all this started, if you began taking a medicine just before all this happened to you, like a month before or so, and check the side effects, and look into stopping whatever drug it is, with the help of your doc.
Secondly, even tho your doc tested your colon for disease, it STILL could be you have some sort of bacteria floating around in there that the tests did not pick up, or could be some abnormality in your intestine is doing this, so please ask your doctor to check again for a bacterial infection or digestive system abnormality for more things than he has already looked at. He could test your stool again, he could draw blood, he could do an ultrasound, any number of things to make sure nothing was missed out of the ordinary. You can always ask your doctor to refer you to another specialist who can provide a new opinion for you.
I'd like to tell you that I know just how terrible this thing is with your endless diarrhea. It's uncomfortable, it's not normal, it's wrecking your days for so long now. But I just know further investigations will reveal what the problem is eventually. While you and the docs are trying to get you straight, about the only advice I can provide is to drink plenty of water, eat a few more foods with good fiber, like oat cereal with Acidophilus milk
flora, you can also get it from Activia yogurt at the grocery and "Pearls" pills from the health food store. At night, you could get some Depends pants for adults, they are wretched to wear, but will better control the diarrhea that is seeping out at night and making a huge mess, since they cover the whole bottom area. Keep us posted as to how things go.
