Does reflux cause breathing trouble? I feel like I am having trouble breathing or is it just a sinsation of not breathing well. Can it be that the esophagus is swelling and making it feel like I can not breath. I have been told that I have acid reflux (without tests). I have been on previcid for almost 3 months and the breathing problem seems to still be there. Anybody else feel this or have any suggestions?

i have acid reflux (gerd) and the best thing for you to do is request that your your doctor or digestive specialest do an upper scope this will also let you know 100 percent what you are dealing with not to mention if  it is gerd it will show how much damage has been done to the asophagus.and to answer your question it can make it harder to breath and it can also cause chest pains and other heart like symptoms that is why it is important to know for sure if this is gerd or not so you and your doctor are not over looking what could be other health problems if your present doctor does not want to run test i would seek a second opion.even though it turned out that i had acid reflux when they ran a battery of test they also found that i had heart problems .so i fill it is not good for any one to asume because gerd fits a described health problem that a doctor should say yes it is the diagnoses unless he or she has ran test to make sure.best of luck and god bless.
