possible contamination

Is it possible for something you eat to trigger an inflamed appendectomy? I had a late night burger after midnight and almost immediately after eating it I developed terrible stomach and abdominal pain. Laying down did not help any so at 2am and again at 4am I induced vomiting thinking it may have been food poisoning. Finally fell asleep after 4am but woke up at 6am with same pain and location. Went to emergency and after CT scan they said I needed an emergency appendectomy. After surgery and recovery for a day I felt much better. Now my question is it possible that the hamburger was tainted in some way to cause all of this? I had no previous problems until I ate that night. Please help if possible!!

No, it wasn't anything you ate.  Sometimes we never know why the appendix becomes inflamed and infected, but it takes time for it to get to the point of telling us something is wrong.  A common reason for appendicitis is the presence of a fecalith.  That's just a bit of feces that has managed to work its way into the appendix and eventually causes trouble.  Glad to hear you're feeling better now.  :-)
