post gall bladder surgery

My 19 year old son had his gall bladder removed 1 1/2 years ago.  The surgeon said it had adhesions & had been inflamed several times-no stones.  Six weeks later he began to have chronic diarrhea & pain in his upper right abdomen that radiates to his back.  He has lost weight & a couple of weeks ago had a bout of vomiting & nausea.  He has had a colonoscopy, small bowel series, several ct scans, mri, ultra sound with no results.  He is on chlorastyramine to help with the diarrhea.  The gastro doctor does not want to do any scoping due to the risk & his age.  Has anyone had tests &/or success for treatment of papillary stenosis or sphincter of Oddi dysfunction?

MRI/MRCP can help with the diagnostics, but you really need a very specialized doctor who can perform ERCP with manatomy(sp?) to cut open the Sphincter of Oddi or put int a stent if necessary.
